The first edition of the new Biennial Meetings on the History of the Principality and Province of Liège will bring together scholars, local historians, cultural institutions, associations and other actors working on the past of the region.

The initiative seeks to reconnect the diverse communities involved in the study and preservation of Liège’s history, encouraging dialogue and collaboration between local scholarship, cultural institutions and academic research. Presentations will focus on ongoing research, including projects that have already resulted in publications but continue to contribute to the updating of historical knowledge. The first edition will explore four complementary themes: economic activities, mobility and industrial heritage, gender and society, political life and international relations of cities and rural communities and religious and philosophical practices.

Deadline for applications: 30 October 2026. Applications should include the title and abstract of the proposed paper, together with a short biography, and should be sent to christophe.masson@uliege.be. The initiative and its call for papers were brought to our attention by Drs. Antoine Leclère. More information here.
